The best bike for you depends on how and where you want to ride. When you come to Bikes Plus to pick out a bike, we'll start by asking you these three questions:
Where do you want to ride? (Mostly on roads or mostly on trails?)
Why do I want to ride? (For fun? For fitness? For basic transportation?)
What’s the most comfortable position to ride? (Fully upright? Leisurely and leaning forward? Or racing mode?)
Depending on your answers to these questions, we can fit you with the optimum ride.
The standard bicycle categories are:
Road Bikes
Road bikes are meant for the pavement and have narrow wheels for efficient transportation. They’re great for touring and going long distances. It is difficult and dangerous to rake a road bike off-road.
Mountain Bikes
Mountain bikes are meant for off road. They have wider wheels with heavier tread and work best on dirt roads and trails. You can still ride a mountain bike on pavement but it takes much more effort.
Hybrids
If you like to ride on the road and go off-road as well, you'll need a Hybrid Bike. A hybrid is a cross between a mountain bike and road bike. They're mid-weight, with medium tires and they come in a wide variety of prices. If you're just starting out, a hybrid is great first bike.
Racing Bikes
Racing bikes are the lightest bikes available and are designed for speed. To make them light, they are made out of high-tech materials and can be the priciest.
Besides the right type of bike, getting a proper fit is very important. At Bikes Plus, we know how to make sure you bike fits you!
